Today, the LIFE Irekibai project is welcoming Itxaso Mora, from the LIFE programme’s external monitoring team (NEEMO). They were able to assess the actions’ technical progress and administrative-financial monitoring. They were also able to visit completed actions, or actions underway, such as elimination of the Bera and Ituren waterwheels, in the Bidasoa river basin. Despite the bad weather, they completed the tour, going to the Leitzaran River to assess progress on restoration of the Ubaran stream and operation of an uncustomary device that allows fish to pass through waterwheels while in use: a fish sluice installed at CH Olaberri.
