LIFE WATER Platform – One river, many interests. 27-28 June 2017, KOBLENZ
In this meeting, HAZI exhibited the LIFE IREKIBAI project which it participates in, also learning more about other river restoration processes in Belgium, Croatia, Finland, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Luxembourg, Slovenia, Spain and the United Kingdom.
This is an initiative of the “Living Lahn” Integrated Project which also involved the collaboration of the European Commission, the German Federal Institute of Hydrology and the Minister of the Environment, Climate Protection, Agriculture and Consumer Protection for Hessia (Germany).
The platform has facilitated the examination of various different elements and problems associated with different uses of water, focusing on the restoration of rivers and on discussing some of the possible experiences and solutions developed by the LIFE projects in attendance and by international European and North American organisations.
There was also an opportunity to witness the activities of the host project, “Living Lahn”, which since 2015 has been developing large-scale restoration activities with a budget of over 15 million Euros in the Lahn river, a tributary of the Rhine.
